Charcoal is the end-product of a burnt hardwood. Some woods after getting burnt turn into ashes while some remains as charcoals. It all depends on the extent to which heat is applied. In various homes, charcoal is an indispensable kitchen item. It is no longer a new news that among many cooking alternatives like kerosene, gas and even firewood, charcoal is the most conservative and cheapest medium of cooking. That is why most mini fast foods and Suya Meat sellers who operate their business by the roadside use it for making their fireplaces.

Interestingly, Charcoal is not a difficult to find commodity in any part of the world except in places where there are no trees. Here in Nigeria, the forest reserves are still in tact and this encourages the local supply of charcoal all over the country. With a reasonable, monitored and a well-moderated deforestation practice, charcoals can be easily made and sourced in large quantities. Incessant cutting down of trees without plans of raising new ones to succeed them simply depletes the environment and causes more harm than good to the human lives. As long as making an area habitable is concerned, green plants plays indispensable roles in the protection of the environment from harmful gasses emitted from the environment by its components into the atmosphere.

So trees are only cut down only when it is advisable to do so. Thanks to government authorities which have been instituted over the years to protect the forest reserves from uncalled depletion. Citizens can cut down trees in their private lands for the purpose of building houses, farming or doing some other personal things. Bur cannot do so to protected and reserved areas of the country without due permission and license.

Cut trees are combusted and burnt to make charcoals which are broken into smaller bits, bagged and sold out to distributors, industries and household who use it for their day to day operations.

Starting this business will definitely not cost you too much money. Even with as little as N50,000 or N30,000 or N10,000, you can start this business comfortably and make some money from it. Meet other charcoal retailers in your area and connect with them. They normally contribute money to make bulk orders for trucks loads of charcoals from the big time suppliers. That is an ideal and cost-saving way of sourcing your products with a little sum of money. Once the stock lands, collect your share and start selling them out in measures for maximum profits.

Store your charcoal in safe places and handle the carefully to avoid breakages. Buyers always like to purchase the big charcoal lumps instead of the little pieces. So take a very good note of this. Also, keep your charcoal away from moist and water. Store the indoors during the rainy seasons and store the in outdoor metal cages during the dry seasons to ensure that they always remain dried and in their best quality too. When you sell good charcoal, your customers will keep on looking for your whenever they want to buy the item. So build your business name by offering good products to your customers. Sell to them at friendly but profitable prices and still make your money daily.

As your money grows, expand your business. Stock as much charcoals as you can and hoard some of them for sale at higher prices when the commodity gets scarce. Your potential customers includes roadside food restaurants, Suya Meat sellers, households, event managers, companies who use industrial machines and many other customers. Find them, maintain a good business relationship with the, sell your charcoal to them and make a lot of money doing your business.
