Many e-commerce portals and other websites that offer their products and services on the internet for sale usually require their customers to pay them through various online platforms like Paypal, PerfectMoney, VoguePay, Discover, American Express, Mastercard and Visa. This is because they want to transact safely and efficiently with their customers shopping their products from different parts of the world. These payment channels creates an ease in the collections of online fees, charges and subscriptions because merchants do not have to visit the country where the seller operates, change their money into the local currency used in the country and either pay it into the sellers bank account or in cash directly to him or her. That is a very crude idea to think about.

Thanks to the inception of these online payment processors and money cards which has so far facilitated the process of online payments such that you can directly pay for products, services and subscription from the very comfort of your bedroom irrespective of the country in which you reside. Even Europeans, Indians, many Asian inhabitants, Africans and Nigerians in specific can now make use of these online payment channels conveniently from their homes. The Paypal online payment processing company recently approved Nigerians to open accounts with them only for outwards transfer of funds and not for the reception of money. Although this eased the stress and worries of making online payments by Nigerians, it still did not eliminate it completely because such accounts operated by Nigerian citizens still has the limitation of not being eligible for the reception of funds. Thus, Nigerian e-commerce experts still find it embarrassing because they cannot accept online payments from their customers through Paypal.

But there are better alternatives of accepting payments from online customers who buy your products and order for your services. The Debit and Credit cards, Mastercard and Visa are here to solve take away such inconveniences. Thus, you can easily make your online payments and withdraw your online earnings generated from your global online transactions through the help of these cards. It was in the past that most banks will require you to open a domiciliary account before you can start making online payments and doing so usually cost from N10,000 and above which used to be very big expenses for individuals. Thanks for the introduction and installation of the Automatic Teller Machine (ATMs) by different banks operating nationwide. With this advanced banking technology, you can conveniently use your ATM card details to make online payments over the internet from the comfort of your homes even without visiting the ATM spots.

Also, you can collect your online earnings straight from ATM outlets using your cards. Notably, Nigerian commercial banks issued these ATM cards in the forms of Verve cards, Visa cards and the Mastercards which are the core payment frameworks and platforms. Although all of them can be used for online transactions, the most acceptable of them all is the Mastercard followed by the Visa cards. I have so far seen just a few people who use their verve cards for online transactions.

Interestingly, these cards can be easily collected from your respective banks. To get your own ATM compatible Mastercard, Visa card or Verve card from your bank, simply visit any branch of the bank that you operate with. Preferably, I will advise you to go to the particular branch where your account was opened so as to make the process easier for you. Visit the customer section of your bank and request for any of the cards. They will tell you the ones that they offer (but most of them offer all the three cards in view). Collect an ATM card request form from the officers and fill it out with the accurate and required details. Submit it and your card will be processed and made available as soon as possible after charging your account balance a specified sum of money as processing fees. Most Nigerian banks do charge the sum of N1,000 only for this service.

As soon as you get the package, follow the instructions contained within the parcel and activate it for both your physical and online transactions and payments at the ATM stand. Some banks may even require you to go extra miles in the activation process by asking you to go to their online portals and register your relevant details with them. If required, do so and make your active for global online and physical transactions as soon as possible.

However, getting these cards is not a problem at all. The major challenge lies in the fact that most of these cards issued by the Nigerian Banks are not globally accepted by e-commerce portals and online business platforms for internet transactions. While some will accept your card details, others will turn it down. Thus, I decided to put down of piece of article primarily to address this issue squarely and present you with a list of Nigerian Bank-issued cards (Visa card and Mastercard) which are widely accepted all over the internet for your unlimited online payments and transactions without any restrictions provided that you have sufficient fund balance in your account. Now see them below:

(1). The Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Naira Mastercard:
Whether you operate a savings or a current account with the Guaranty Trust Bank, you can make a requestt and get your own GTB Naira Mastercard - a special Mastercard denominated in Naira which has a global acceptance for online business and transaction purposes with support in over 32.7million mastercard locations and for over 1.9million ATMs. GTBank Naira Mastercard as soon as you get and activate it will be automatically linked to either the savings or current account you operate such that your online payments are deducted from it whenever you make your transactions. So far from the assessment of the effectiveness of this Mastercard when it comes to online transactions, it is the favourite of most Nigerians and that is why it is widely used. If you operate an account with the GTBank, feel free to request for this card from their customer care representatives at any of their branches closest to you during the working hours and you will get yours within a reasonable time frame.

(2). The First bank Naira Mastercard:
The First Bank launched their Naira Mastercard in the month of December 2012 and it has thus far, remained an active and effective which is widely used by their customers for their online transactions and payments on various e-commerce platforms. Getting this card is very simple. You must be either a savings or current account holder with first Bank in order to qualify to get this card. If you do not have any, simply visit any of their branches nearest to you and open an account with them. As soon as your new account is ready, apply for your First Bank Naira Mastercard and you will be given an ATM concession form. Fill it out appropriately and accurately with the required details and submit it to them. As soon as they process it and charge you a little fee for it, collect it from them and activate it as soon as you can for your online transactions following their instructions.

(3). The UBA Africard:
This card can be collected from any branch of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) in Nigeria. Notably, the UBA Africard is issued by the UBA in collaboration with the Global Technology Partners (GTP) - an overseas outfit operating in Nigeria in partnership with the UBA to provide the UBA Africard for the account holders. Like other too, the UBA Africard is a pre-funded and re-loaded Naira Debit card widely accepted by Visacard online transaction outlets. UBA has even made it in such a way that you can get this card from them even if you do not have a bank account with them. All you need to do is to visit any of their branches operating anywhere in Nigeria and request for the UBA Africard. They officers will definitely ask you to provide your a concrete proof of your identity which you can easily do by presenting them with your National Identity card, International Passport, Voters card, PHCN bill or your Driving License added to copies of your passport photographs as may be demanded from you.

Fill out their forms and attach duplicate copies of any of the aforementioned documents to it. Then, submit it to the customer care staffs for processing. If you tick the option of getting a 'Personalized' Africard from UBA, you will be charged around N750 for it and get the card after a few days. But if you choose to have the 'Non-Personalized' Africard, it will be issued to you instantly after the payment of a sum of money in the region of N500. It may change with time. The main difference between both cards is that while the personalized Africard will bear your full name, the non-personalized card will be blank without your name inscribed onto its surface.

To activate your new UBA Africard, open the card parcel, take your card to the ATM outlet, insert it there and change the default 4-Digit ATM withdrawal PIN contained inside the parcel to your desire using the desired 4-digit PIN. Then, use an internet-connected facility (a mobile phone, a laptop, PC or a Dektop computer) and visit this link below:
https://www.gtpsecurecard.com/UBA/Login.aspx

As soon as you get to the page, enter the Number of your Africard as well as the default Internet Access PIN into the fields provided for each of them. Login from there and you will be redirected to a new page where you will create your unique user name and password. Do whatever you are instructed to do and change your login details as well as your PIN for online transactions successfully.

(4). The Zenith Bank Visacard:
The Zenith Bank issues the Visacard to their customers for their routine and online transaction purposes as well. The card can be linked either to the Savings account, current account or even to the USD domiciliary account of the customers such that the balance of funds in these accounts can be effectively used to make online payments and transactions with ease. Whether you are making online transactions denominated in Naira values or the USD, you can conveniently process them using the Zenith Bank Visacard as it is widely accepted by most online business platforms and e-commerce portals.

To get the Zenith Bank Visacard, simply visit any of their corporate branches operating within the country and open an account with them (if you have not opened an account previously with them) using a minimum Naira sum valued at $120, your National Identification card, PHCN bill or driving license as well as copies of your recent Passport photographs. As soon as your new account is ready, apply for the ATM Visacard through the customer care section and they will process it for you. Once it I'd ready, pick up your card parcel, go to the nearest Zenith Bank ATM in the location, follow the directions contained inside the parcel to change your default normal PIN and the Internet PIN to your desired PINs respectively. As soon as you complete this step successfully, your Visacard will be activated instantly for use in making your online payments and transactions anytime.

Moreover, this is the much I can take for now in this very article although other notable banks in Nigeria like the Diamond Bank Plc, the Keystone Bank plc among the other 25 banks issue authentic VisaCards and Mastercards which are globally accepted by many online platforms for payment purposes. You can name them in the comment section below and I will update this post as soon as I can with other relevant information that I may have missed.
