THE VILLAGE PIPER
(Originally written on 4/07/2010)
»» QUOTE:
"Primitive is ignorance, to be ignorant is to presume, to presume is to be primitive and to be primitive is to be uncivilized"
Two brothers have lived in this very world;
The known wealthy city merchant Leopold
And Cicero a good village piper
Not same in fate, yet of the same mother
While Cicero piped for village cowries
Leopold traded for city currencies
But Cicero since birth loved two things most;
Hunting grey birds and smo'king on the post
Sooner the piper went to the city
To play at his brother's wedding bounty
He piped sweetly and money filled his cup
"Papers" he thought and fastly smoked them up
Seeing this act, a rich man there wriggled
"He can never smoke a coin"; he giggled
So he gave Cicero a golden coin
Who threw it off at a grey bird to ruin
Finally, the wedding feast was over
And Cicero sought for his pay as proper
The celebrant only had this to say;
"You've smoked half and threw the other away"
Into a pool of tears, Cicero fell
Wondering of a foolish tale to tell
Presumption is really a great mistake
And ignorance a deed done for doomsake.
